Introduction and Conclusion Styles

The first draft of Essay 1 is due today! You surely have written a spectacular introduction and a novel conclusion to this essay. However, in order so that we may practice versitility in our writing, please write two different introductory paragraphs for it, each one featuring a different method from the handout in class. They will each showcase your brilliant thesis statements, much as a diamond is set in platinum.

When you are done, please also write two different conclusions for a total of four posts.

Paragraphs should be 4-6 sentence long, and each paragraph should be posted separately. Feel free to use the internet for research.

  1. 1. Prostitution is illegal in the United States. 75% of Americans believe that prostitution should be legal though. This is an extremely big percentage of Americans. It somewhat says something when most of the population agrees that something should be changed. With such a hefty amount of people for it, it seems like the only rational result.

  2. 2. Imagine a Country where people could freely express themselves. A place where you could do what they want on the streets. A time, where the choice is yours. That place can be the United States. That form of expression can be prostitution. That time, could be now!

  3. Prostitution has been described as an act of sexual intercourse for remuneration. Worldwide it is considered to be the oldest profession. However, in the United States there are very few places where promoting sex is legal. Should it be legal throughout our nation? There are a lot of things that we should keep in mind about such as crimes, economic issues, and affects.

  4. Intro1-Have you ever wondered what will happen if prostitution is legalized in all 50 of the United States?

  5. 2. “We’re just putting out brush fires while the forest is blazing,” Maryland Judge Darryl Russell once said opposing illegal prostitution. In the United States prostitution has long been illegal and so far it has been the governments main concern instead much more serious issues.

  6. Introduction 1:
“We say that slavery has vanished from European civilization, but this is not true. Slavery still exists, but now it applies only to women and its name is prostitution,” stated French novelist Victor Hugo. Throughout European countries women are being forced to sleep with men for money. These women have never had the option of saying no. Do we want to welcome the idea of these women being forced to sleep with men by legalizing prostitution? Do we want our children to believe it is okay for them to do something they do not want to do?

  7. Intro2-Imagine if prostitution would be legal in all 50 of the United States, all the caos that we would experiencing right now. The separation of families, organizations exploiting women, the loses of moral values, our kids not being interesting in careers, and the country living in a total and dark dystopia.

  9. 1st intro - Brooke Taylor, college graduate, Cable T.V. star, and public face for legal prostitution. She makes thousands for having sex with people for money and she does it in a safe controlled manner. There are millions of other girls that do the same thing she does but get arrested and fined, simply because they’re not doing it in the 14 counties in Nevada where its legal. Having prostitution be legalized in, not all, but in most of the 50 states would be a reasonable compromise, prices would stay high, which entails a higher tax collection, and enforcing STD checks as well as birth control methods would be safer than pornography.

  10. 2nd intro - Where’s my money? What are you doing out of your corner? Don’t talk back to me! Get back to your corner and make my money! Those are the daily phrases you can expect to hear from a “pimp” talking to his prostitute. And there’s nothing she can do because otherwise she will be beaten, and she’s working illegally so she cannot go to the police for help. All this could be eliminated if we lived in a world where prostitutes could safely work under the roof of a brothel and work legally. Having prostitution be legalized in, not all, but in most of the 50 states would be a reasonable compromise, prices would stay high, which entails a higher tax collection, and enforcing STD checks as well as birth control methods would be safer than pornography.

  11. Intro 1: If I were a prostitute, trying to make a living out on the streets, selling my body to those creepy men out there who don’t care about my well being just that they receive their full satisfaction, and it is the only way I know how to make a living for me to survive? Then I think it is time to legalize the situation! Many women out there are being mistreated and are not aware of their own health just to please these men for their money. Some of them are brutally abused or raped and not receiving their full payments at times and can’t do anything about it. Since prostitution is a reality and it goes on in the world either if it is legal or not might as well legalize it for the greater good and rights and benefits of our women!

  12. Image if prostitution is legal in the United States, the majority of people agree with it. It would decrease violence against women and children. The government would benefit by collecting taxes. If this would help our country we should try it. It is like when alcohol was illegal in the United State all that money waste in jails until they legalize it and they save millions of dollars and have a new industry.

  13. 1st intro.: Prostitution is one of the oldest jobs in history and it hasn’t been legalized in all 50 states. I personally believe that prostitution should be legalized as a source of work in all 50 states. There are many people working as sex servers throughout the USA. By legalizing prostitution it will give them more protection, it will help control STD’s and pregnancy and it will help the country’s economy.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 3. Legalizing prostitution can benefit more than harm society. You can get America out of its recession with something like prostitution. Even the police officer’s lives would be better. This is something that can start up jobs, as well as futures for many citizens in all the 50 states. This is a possible job that could revolutionize the U.S. If something like marijuana became popular when legalized, imagine prostitution.

  15. The only way to stop this trafficking in and profiting from the use of women's bodies is for prostitution to be legalized. Legalization will open it up to regulation; and regulation means safety.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 2nd intro.: Women being assaulted raped and even killed by clients and strangers. That’s what goes through my head when I think in prostitution not being legalized. That’s why I think it should be legalized so crime can lower, it will be safer for them and society and it will help the country in the economy.

    ReplyDelete
  17. 4. So you see prostitution isn’t as bad as it seems. It is a choice that people choose to make their career. They all do it despite the rules and regulations of the law. Even though countless prostitutes get arrested the way of life continues on. So for right of expression and choice, prostitution should be legalized in all the 50 states.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Intro#1: Prostitution is not legal in all the fifty states of the United States, but why not, if it can benefit the country. A lot of people should agree with making prostitution legal, I strongly believe, that the economy in this country would have a tremendous increse. The people that would have the most benefit of making prostitution legal are women, their economy would definitely be higher. Another way that it can profit the country is but opening busnisses. Not only that, but it would also prevent a lot of physical and mental abuse that some of these prostitutes receive. These reasons should really make people that desagree with prostitution at least consider that fact that it might be a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 1st conclusion: Weather legalized or not prostitution will always exist. We should respect their choice of work. As long as they do it because they want too and no one is forcing them I believe they should have that right to pick the job they want without being exploited by others. It will help them and the society be safer.

  20. -Introductions:
    1. Have you ever wonder how life would be like if prostitution would be legalized in all fifty of the United States? Women all over the world would feel denigrated and ashamed of what the world has then become. Not to mention, this can cause an impact on children’s lives. This can cause violence amongst the women and the environment. How will the world explain to children if prostitution is legalized that in reality it is not healthy? We cannot let this happen!

    2. Studies show that over eighty percent of prostitutes wish to get out of it. Fifty eight percent reported getting assaulted by their clients. Many prostitutes are getting killed and sexually transmitted diseases. Is that really worth getting legalized and the pay? Violence takes in the place in the world of prostitution!

  22. Prostitution is the act of providing sexual services to another person in return for payment. There are many reasons why prostitution should be legal in all 50 states. Legalizing prostitution could benefit the country in some ways. There will be less crime on the streets. It also can decrease the spread of diseases. This is why I believe prostitution should be legal in all 50 states.

  23. Go clean yourself. Now put on some sexy clothes. Stand on that corner. Make that easy money. Now give me the money. Those were the words of a pimp. What give him the right to speak to a woman like that? Lets take control of these pimps and make their business ours. Lets legalize Prostitution

    ReplyDelete
  24. Conclusion 2:
It was once said, “The need for prostitution arises from the fact that many men are either unmarried or away from their wives on journeys, that such men are not content to remain continent and that in a conventionally virtuous community they do not find respectable women.” Legalizing prostitution takes away the respect of each and every woman. Everyone has the right to be respected, don’t allow women to be disrespected.

    ReplyDelete
  25. 2nd conclusion: By legalizing prostitution our children might see how they suffer and how they have to work. They wouldn’t want that for their life and it might motivate them to continue on with their education. It all depends on the kind of education that the parents give them. Many people blame prostitutes for drugs, rapes and STDs, when in reality there are more STD's and unplanned pregnancy among teens that are just dating. We shouldn’t judge them (prostitutes) without knowing what’s the reason that they decided to work on the streets.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Intro#2 Prostitution is not legal in all the fifty states of the United States, but why not, if it can benefit the country. Can you imagine the economy turn around this country would have. Specially for women, because they would the once that would have the best profit out of this business. Although the entire fifty states would benefit from it, I say this because the country would have a lot of granp openings. Another reason why it would be valuable to make prostitution legal is because the physical and mental abuse these women are having would decrease. Therefore, why now consider making prostitution legal?

    ReplyDelete
  27. conclusion1-All of the people around the world should really take seriously the problem of legalizing prostitution, because I personally think it would affect all of us and our families. Legalizing prostitution would lead to have more people in the streets, more crime, more peers not reaching a high level of education.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 1. Conclusion:---Prostitutes own their own bodies and decide how those labor services should be used. What happen to personal freedom and liberty? The government shouldn’t interfere in such act especially if it’s voluntary. Indeed, such interference violates individual’s right of privacy.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Conclusion 1: Just imagine a parents dream crushed the moment their child walks up to them and says, “Mom I want to be a prostitute.” After years and years of watching our kids grow up and anticipating that they will become doctors, lawyers, or teachers, those parents dreams are destroyed because of our ignorance. They are destroyed because we decided to legalize prostitution and told our kids it is okay to have sex with people for money. Is this really the future we want for our children?

  30. • Prostitution is the act or practice of engaging in sexual intercourse for money. In the United States, prostitution has been prohobited everywhere except for one county in Nevada. Mr. Reid, a Democrat and Senate majority leader, is calling for an end to legal brothels like the Moonlite Bunny Ranch which is in Nevada. However, legalizing prostitution wouldn’t be such a bad idea for the following reasons. Well first and foremost, if porn is legal then why not legalize prostitution. Also, prostitution can’t be prevented. Lastly, legalizing prostitution would start a new industry in todays economy. Legalizing prostitution in all fifty of the United States would benefit us more then it having an effect on us.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 3-Prostitution had a bad reputation; I think it would help more than harm. It would decrease crime all over the U.S. where it would be more jobs opportunities. I think the people of the country should think about it and get to the darkest part of prostitution make some rules and if they think is good for our future they should do it. It’s nice to have an open mind and more in these times where we can be surprise for what we can find on the street. Maybe the answer to our problems is prostitution.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Putting an end to prostitution in the U.S. back then might have been okay; however, legalizing it now would be more than okay. It would benefit not only the prostitute or the costumer but all the jails and intitutions, banks, unemployment rate, trillion dollar debt and whatnot. With legalization of prostitution there will be lots of changes, and with lots of changes we will see progression.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Introduction 1 -There are two different sides to this topic .The people who find the cons for prostitution or the people who have more cons. In my opinion I believe that prostitution should be legalized in all 50 states. First of all people get paid in the porn industry which is legal, I don’t see the difference with prostitution. it will also help us economically creating a whole new industry. Last but not least we all deserve to be treated equally and have legal protection just like any other person with a job to help reduce crimes. Legalized or not prostitution will be and has been around for many years and no law is going to stop these people from doing what they want, it is a free country after all.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Conclusion 1 -There are some states out there that accept prostitution well enough to make it legal. Why should we be the only close minded state? There is many people out there without a job .If prostitution were legalized it would not only help them out but our economical statues too.sex sells , we all are aware of this .Porn is legal around the whole world and honestly I don’t see what the difference is between prostitution and porn .prostitutes run a major risk of getting hurt or even killed in the streets because they are not legally protected ,think that everyone should feel safe enough while working .we all have the right to be alive .prostitution may be the world’s oldest profession and by laws making it illegal is an example of government discrimination.

    ReplyDelete
  35. 1st conclusion - If we live in a country that’s known to be the land of the free, then why are we still chasing down, and wasting our tax dollars on prosecuting street prostitutes for the “crimes” of doing what they please to their own bodies? A compromise of legalizing it in most states would be fair and reasonable. Porn stars get away with a lot more stuff and they film it where young kids could easily get access to if they know how to work a computer. Despite the laws we put out, as long as prostitution is at a high demand and people will still pay whatever for one, then it will continue to be around. So why not tax it and gain money to better our country and pick ourselves up from this economic downfall that we’re in.

  36. -Conclusions:
    1. So you see; there are many reasons why prostitution shouldn’t be legalized in all fifty of the United States. No one deserves to get hurt or used for some pocket change. There are many other ways in having a career and making money the legal way. So let’s make the world a better place and not bring it into prostitution.
    2. Having said that if prostitution is legalized, the world would basically turn into a total wreck. Children around the world would think that it is okay to prostitute themselves for money other than going to school and making a career. More violence would occur around the world with prostitution homicides, STD’s, etc. The world doesn’t need this, so let’s not bring this into this world!

  37. Prostitution is the provision of sexual services for negotiated payment between consenting adults. Prostitution should be legal because it can decrease abortion. It also can reduce crime against them. It can reduce the spread of STD’s in our country. This is why I agree that prostitution should be legal in the U.S.

    ReplyDelete
  38. 2nd conclusion -
In my opinion our tax dollars should be spent on more serious and heinous crimes, instead of going after women and men who decide they want to sell their bodies to people who are just willing enough to pay. Reaching a compromise shows that both sides of the argument on legalization are open minded and reasonable. If there are porn stars all over the internet that do the weirdest and nastiest things and still have it be legal, then why are prostitutes getting arrested for virtually the same thing. By legalizing it we could be gaining tax dollars instead of spending them.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Conclusion #1 All this leads me to tink that prostitution should be legalize. Keeping in mind that a lot of women income can raise. Plus it can secure the physical and mental health of a lot of women. Moreover, a lot of businesses can benefit, from regular business graduates to the government.

  40. First introduction. The act of providing sexual services to another person in return for payment is better known by the name of prostitution. Nowadays, it consider for most people as one of the most depraving jobs that anyone could work in but it is one of the oldest professions in the world. Actually, in most of the states of U.S., prostitution is considered illegal for decreed laws. According to many people’s opinion is better keep prostitution considered illegal almost all over the U.S. In many cases prostitution is seen as one of the responsible for the woes of this country. Recent estimates place the annual revenue generated from global prostitution industry to be over $100 billion. After legalizing prostitution all over the U.S., would it hurt this country’s economy more than benefit it?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Introduction 2- Prostitution has to be the oldest profession followed by the biggest controversy. This country doesn’t need more problems and that’s exactly what legalizing prostitution would do. There are many reasons I believe that it should remain illegal. Women’s rights have been fought for throughout many years I would find it degrading for people to think that this kind of job is all women are only really good for. Sexually transmitted diseases could end up in a result of death to many people; this profession would increase the danger people’s health and their own. Last but not least it would wreck a lot of families and start to question their own morals in a negative way. Whenever you have money and sex involved it could never end up in a good situation for the country or ourselves.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Intro 2: Imagine the world what it would be as, if illegal prostitution continued. All those people who would be incarcerated and all the money wasted or gone that the government could be using for a greater cause, all those who would be sick catching awful diseases day after day, brutally abused in every way possible, and even dead! And with the way the world, the generations and society are nowadays, how we can expect anything to be any good. Without the law regulating this situation into better control, there is no hope that it could get any better in the future.

  43. Legal brothals known for legal prostitution like the Moon Lite Bunny Ranch in Nevada is legal almost in the entire 5o states of america. People find that this organization was the best thing that ever happened to man kind. Being that if you desire a type of men or women for the night you can complete your desires by simply paying them, and not have to deal with the fuss of having to charm your partner to get what you want. Just as wonderful it seems to people for others it isn’t just so wonderful. Legal prostitution gives a bad name to women. Secondly it gives your children the wrong type of role model. And also is a way of earning easy and dirty money. Although legal prostitution has become so popular it should be illegal in all the 50 states because it’s the wrong way of earning your living.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Although legal prostitution has become so popular it should be illegal in all the 50 states because it’s the wrong way of earning your living. Legal brothals has become very popular not only because it’s legal around the United States but also because they do their job professional. Every week the men and women get checked atleast twice a week , because it’s a bussiness that’s done correctly.Although this isn’t enough to convince the ones who are against this bussiness for the following. Legal prostitution gives a bad name to women, it gives your children the wrong type of role model, and it’s a way of earning easy and dirty money. By illegalizing prostitution we are ingaging a better name for women and setting the right example to others by saying no to easy and dirty money.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Most people don’t agree with the idea of prostitution. They claim it’s an easy and wrong way to earn your living. Yet we have others that disregard this message being said and the least thing they want to see is legal prostitution coming to an end.For the simple fact that it’s a living many women had made out of themselves. Secondly there are forms of prostitution that exists in strip clubs. And because it will create more violence in the world. Many people don’t agree with the idea of legal brothal, although legal prostituion should be legalized in all the 50 states because it’s not doing any harm to the society.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Conclusion1- In addition, prostitution is the exchange of money for the return of sex. Prostitution should be legal in the U.S. because it can benefit the country. It can reduce crimes in the country. It also can reduce the spread of disease in our country. That is why prostitution should be legal in the U.S.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Conclusion 2- Prostitution is to give sexual service to someone for the return of payment. I believe that prostitution should be legal because it can reduce abortion in our country and it also will be less crime against prostitutes. There will be less people infected with STD's. These are my reasons why prostitution should be legal in our country.

    ReplyDelete
  48. conclusion2-Many people don't agree with the idea of legal brothal, although legal prostitution should be legalized in all the 50 states because it's not doing any harm to the society. Many claim it's an easy and wrong way to earn your living because the men and women who approach this way of living arn't going to college for a profession that they make so much money doing. Also, your simply selling your body for sale for someone elses benefits.Regarding peoples opinions legal prostitution should be legalized because it's a living many women had made of themselves,There are other forms of prostitution, and it will create more violence. At the end of the day no one will loose if legalizing prostitution is simply done.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Conclusion1: With prostitution being legal, I believe, our society in general would be under better control. Being that our women will be going through more health check-ups and having equal and legal rights like the rest of us in both the working industries and their well being. Also, being that the government will be collecting more taxes, there will be fewer crimes and more real crimes will be taken care of. In other words, I believe our women, men, and children, our society in general will benefit from legalizing prostitution.

Conclusion2: Legalizing prostitution may not fully protect our women entirely but with the tax money the government will be collecting they can use that money for programs to give women the opportunity to finding a way out of it. There are better chances with prostitution being legal, that justice will be served as well as injustices being under better control. Society in general can be a better place one step at a time.

  51. 2nd Intro: Have you ever think how much money could prostitution provide to U.S.’s economy? In some brothels of Las Vegas typical prices start at $200 for fifteen minutes and in some way these brothels charge $10,000 an hour for parties. Twenty-eight brothels existed in this state by July 2008 employing 300 female prostitutes. All this could provide huge benefits to this country’s economy but actually prostitution is illegal almost all over the fifty states of the same because its background of illnesses, human depravation, crime, murder, illegal human traffic, etc. This could have an end, which will be legalizing prostitution in all fifty states of U.S.

    ReplyDelete
  52. 1st intro: Everyone has a different opinion when it comes about prostitution. Prostitution is a female or male who are being hired to give sex acts. But when it comes to prostitution, the one who is known for this job is mostly women. It is a broad topic in which it is an old profession that in some states prostitution is not legal. Legalizing prostitution in the fifty states can benefit sex workers and client, reduce crime, and promote liberty and privacy. In an article there was a man who stated “I pay for sex because that is the only way I can get sex." Sometimes men pay women to have a one night stand just so there self-esteem can increase. Prostitutes have sexual relationship with different people in which society does not endure. Since the profession has been existed for many generations, society cannot control it from not happening. It is better for prostitution to be legal than illegal for the reasons for felony to decrease.

    ReplyDelete
  53. 1st conclusion: Not only do regular people pay women to have a one night stand but also celebrity. There are some prostitutes that have sued celebrities for not paying their satisfaction. Prostitution is all around the world and some go to other countries like Amsterdam just to have a legal and protected intimacy. The sex industry has porn that in fact is legal but not prostitution which happens to be more low profile than porn. Pornography is exposing to the world to see and prostitution in more private. Society has to state the obvious in which prostitution will not end because the money that is received for a night is done in a week or two of hard work. It is better for people to accept prostitution and protect the sex workers who have to go through it every day or night.

    ReplyDelete
  54. 2nd intro:
Society has to decimalizing the sex industry in order to show some respect in our generation. The prostitution has increased even more since the economy has been in crisis. Women should be respected by men and not taken advantage by the ones who want to have some sort of pleasure. Not accepting prostitution in the fifty states not promoting the sex industry, sex trafficker and enhance a woman’s choice. Children would be have to see what unnecessary for their age and would be hard for parents to control what their child watches. However, prostitution is not the way to increase the economy because there are other options in job opportunity. Prostitution should not be allowed in the fifty states because it opens the door to the sex industry.

    ReplyDelete
  56. 2nd conclusion: Although the sex industry is an international business and has increased some countries economy, does not mean it is the only way to help the America’s economy. By making prostitution legal life of children and women will be at risk. Some will take advantage of the situation and force women children into the sex industry. It is enough with pornography being legal in the United States and even pornography. Nowadays political, celebrity, even a mayor have had a one night stand with a prostitute. What are the examples they are leading to other future candidates or celebrity? Prostitution cannot get out of hand and have hookers walking around to be slept with. Sex is the passion of two people who are in love and give into one another and therefore, should not be taken for granted to give or receive money from it.

    ReplyDelete
  57. 1st conclusion: All this could be possible if governments take action on this issue of prostitution and make it legal as any other business. This doesn’t mean that in every block should be a brothel nor close to schools or public places, but like any other business such as liquor stores, etc.; these places will have regulations and penalizations if they break the laws. Why not take advantage of this billion dollar industry; which seems to last for a long time, legally or illegally, it doesn’t matter. I believe we all have to change our mind a little bit because there are people who are making their wealth of this industry running it illegally and without paying taxes. This will continue for a long time unless something is done about it.

  58. 1st: For the last decades or so many people worry to much on what others have to say and forget that true meaning of life which is being able to notice our own defects and only so can we judge. It's like people say don't judge if you don't want to be judge. Many problems that we face in this era and we overcome them so why is it people are now so against prostitution when its been here so many years. Why fight something you just can't win it will either way be even if not legalized. So make it easy cause later in life it will surely make safer streets and better neighborhood, also a established economy and also carrear like jobs for those who want to work in that business. So lets be smart and accept it will it is possible and stop the diseases from spreading and protect women and all who are in that business.

    ReplyDelete
  59. 2nd conclusion: The time to legalize prostitution has come. In many countries where prostitution still being illegal, which must be having problems caused by Illegal prostitution. High rate of crime and illnesses are some of the consequences of illegal prostitution, which these governments have to face and spend lots of money fighting it. To governments, legalize prostitution and end with lots of yours countries’ woes without spending that much money that is used to keep it illegal.

    ReplyDelete
  60. 2nd intro:So many cases of prostitution in the world and so little interest people out on them and others that don't care about the women that work for a living. Many women die in this business and get abused in some cases out of being paid get even thrown and discriminated.Stop the hate against this women that the only thing they want is respect and although they get the money in un manner way they are producing money in this case to the country and it's needs so why judge them their working cause they face many obstacle in life and find themselves in a maze with no way to get out. So make your life easy and make a better future for the future generations and help make people opened minded cause at first it may seem wrong but on the long way many people will benefit. All this in the government and society and protecting against any threat to women that want to be somebody in life and are put down by others don't let anther innocent life go take a stand for whats right.

    ReplyDelete
  61. 1st concl: To say that many laws have been passed in many countries and many outlaws and many other things people aren't happy and are approved why cant they just accept prostitution it's a world wide issue that not the the united faces but all countries, take it to second hand and let it aside and take other issue more important to them aren't saving life's important and even more if its women. Why has it been that the us imitates others countries in some things and yet as the land of the free they are unwilling to take the lead and do something so other country's to follow so they lead by example and that they will be helping all not only women in this business but all people that live in the community this happens in make a safer place for the future.
